I never really understood the allure of the English bulldog. I am a herding dog girl, myself. I like dogs you can take running, dogs you can take anywhere, tough dogs, low-maintenance dogs.
What can you do with an English bulldog? They seemed sort of boring and high maintenance to me. I had heard that bulldogs were stubborn, with no recall. I thought I would never want to own one…
and then I met Betty.
Betty greets life, other dogs and people with such exuberance and joy that you can’t help but love her. She especially loves my friend’s boyfriend Danny, who once told me she reminded him of a meatball.
People that know me well know that every single dog that stays with me here at Doggie Heaven Hotel gets a nickname. And now I have one for Betty.
When Betty gets excited, she uses what nature gave her to show it, throwing her beefy round meatball-ish body at other dogs. This is what she has to offer; this is how she plays.
Hence the nickname: The Flying Meatball.
Who doesn’t love meatballs?
Oh, that last photo is adorable. Everyone here gets a huge kick out of smiley Betty every time we see her.
